Housed in the heart of the American south, Sand Hills literary magazine has been keeping the written word and independent voices alive since 1973.
Including exclusive interviews with Ada Limón, Peter Heller, and Angie Kim, as well as fiction and poetry by the winners of our National Literary Contest.
We are thrilled to announce our Spring 2020 Sand Hills National Literary Contest winners, Bonnie Proudfoot and Kevin Griffin!
The best of poetry and short fiction were selected by judges Rebecca Makkai and Eric Smith.
The winner in each category was published in the print edition of Issue 44 of Sand Hills!
In the Fall, visiting writers offer book signings and readings, all free and open to the public.
WHO WE ARE
Sand Hills is a national magazine that invites both emerging and established writers to contribute to our literary community.
We want writers to submit their truths, their fictions, their poetry, their art— to share their humanity.
